A pendulum is basically, a light weight hanging from a string, or light chain such as a necklace. It may be as simple as a paper clip or a ring.
Some people use a pear shaped crystal. I prefer to use a wooden pear shaped pendulum because wood is a neutral material and does not attract vibrations itself, whereas crystal and metal do. However, I have not noticed any difference. It might all be in the mind of the user.
The first time I saw a pendulum used, it consisted of a wedding ring on a string of cotton. This was in the days before ultra sound was even thought of.
This pendulum was held over a pregnant woman's tummy to foretell the sex of the baby.
That used to be an old midwife's trick and at least her findings could be verified.
Pendulums can tell the sex of animals and plants. They can also be used over maps and charts, plans and photos and answer questions about them. They can be used when looking for lost persons or querying someone's health.
Many naturopaths use pendulums to find the right remedy for ailments or to test foods and drinks as to their suitability or otherwise.
During the middle ages, the church declared dowsing to be witchcraft.
These days we have all kinds of electronic gadgets to find out what is under the ground or inside our bodies. That is a great triumph for science but it is another example of how modern science and technology replace intuition.
